The Question

February 7, 2020LifeBy Elle Saunders

A regular question that gets dropped in my inbox from couples is ‘who do you recommend vendor wise- from photographers, florist, venues, makeup artists to caterers and musicians?’. The list can be endless.

Located in Broome town, we have so many amazing and wonderful vendors, each different in their own creative way but all with the same value of being the best in their field of expertise and making your moment one to remember.

The moment you start planning your moment, there are decisions that you need to make with the first being; are you going for a big wedding with lots of guests, something in between or an intimate gathering to eloping with just the two of you.

The important thing is to be true to you as a couple. Don’t feel the pressure of having to have a big wedding, inviting all those rellies and friends who you hardly see, but feel out of respect that you have to because they are family, or it is expected. No, this is your moment, your day means your way. Everyone has had their moment or will have their moment. This is your moment to create and represent you as a couple and your relationship.

What is important to you when it comes to your day?

It’s working out what is essential to you both. What are things that you value? Who are Key vendors who will be crucial in creating and telling your story.

  • Are flowers something that are important to you and your day?
  • Is having an amazing photographer important to you, to capture your moment so that you can have some for the walls of your home?
  • Do you want all the moments captured? All the small things that happen, that tell the story of the day? Then maybe a videographer is for you.
  • Are you someone who loves to do your own makeup and hair or do you want a professional to add that extra sparkle?
  • Are you massive foodies and love a good wine? Then maybe this is an area you want to focus on.
  • Do you love to dance, is having a good musical vibe important? Then maybe a live band is for you or a DJ to get the party started.

As not all of us are millionaires (or spending 50K is not on your priority list for a wedding day), a budget is a good thing. It helps to work out what areas are important to you both to bring your day together. From here you can then work out what vendors you want to spend the $$$ on.

For some, having an intimate ceremony with just some of their fav’s followed with good food, drink and vibe is key. So, they spend the $$$ on an awesome celebrant because getting married and sharing vows is a special moment,  to a kickass photographer and a venue that allows them to eat delicious food, drink glorious wine whilst an acoustic musician sets the vibe under the stars with the magical glow of festoon lighting.

For others, it’s about having one huge party where they can invite everyone, but it won’t cost an arm and leg. It’s about finding a venue that they can possibly bring in their own alcohol, have a mouth-watering spit roast buffet and a DJ who will get the crowd busting a move.

To those who just want to share a moment as two souls eloping somewhere, where they can have an adventure and holiday but spend the $$$ on an amazing elopement team who will make sure the moment is truly magical.

Once you work out how you see your moment coming together, then you will have a better idea when it comes to starting your search.

Every vendor has something that makes them different. What you need to do is find the one that suits you and your vibe. Photographers for example, stalk them, look through their photos and if you connect with their work then they are the ones for you. Yes, sometimes the one you love may be out of your price range but what you need to decide from there is how important is this vendor is to you. Maybe there is something else you are happy to go without so that you can have the vendor that you know is going to make your moment greater than imagined.

The same goes with Celebrants. I am the first to say to any of my couples who touch base, if I am not the one for them then that is ok (I’m not going to throw an apple at them if I see them at Coles in the fruit section I promise), all I want is for couples to find there ideal team of creatives who they connect with because in doing so your day is going to be amazing. Your vendors help to create a day that is a complete reflection of you both and for me that makes the heart happy.

It truly is all about the connection, when you do your stalking do you connect with the images and stories each vendor is sharing? Do you get those goosebumps? Do you just want to smile and do a happy dance? If the answer is yes, then touch base and lock them in baby.
